DANCE DANCE HISTORY

PETER DANCE DANCE HISTORY is an institutional critique about who is allowed to say what dance is. PETER, author, artistic, choreographer, dancers, speaks from the institution, from a western patriarchal perspective as they lead the audience in a participatory aerobics class, advertised as “your chance to dance dance history”. In a caring manner PETER encourages the audience to discuss and critically dance and move through western pejorative notions of dance. As a call for dancing without hyarchic, without authoritarian regimes and gatekeeping, a call for dancing without justification, validation and legitimizing it under tyrannical orders of dance. A recognition that our institutions are racist, sexist and bigoted.
